Certified data destruction
Every data-bearing device we receive is processed before it leaves our custody. We provide secure data wiping and physical drive destruction in compliance with POPIA, NIST 800-88 and DoD 5220.22-M standards, and we issue a certificate of destruction for every completed job.
Drives that cannot be reliably overwritten, including failed, encrypted or locked disks, are physically destroyed rather than wiped, so no device leaves the process unaccounted for.

We no longer purchase equipment. Asetos does not buy used or second-hand devices, and we do not offer trade-in or consignment resale.
Everything is still welcome for free recycling and responsible disposal, whatever its age or condition. If you are decommissioning working hardware, we will recycle it and issue your destruction documentation the same way.

Frequently asked questions
Do you charge to recycle business e-waste?
No. Recycling and responsible disposal are free, including for obsolete and non-working equipment. Scheduled collection is arranged by volume, so contact us with an approximate device count and we will confirm the arrangement before anything is moved.
Do you buy old office computers?
No. Asetos no longer purchases used equipment, and we do not offer trade-in or consignment resale. Equipment of any age or condition is accepted for free recycling and responsible disposal instead.
Which data destruction standards do you work to?
We wipe and destroy drives in compliance with POPIA, NIST 800-88 and DoD 5220.22-M. The method used depends on the device and its condition, and it is recorded on the certificate.
What documentation do I receive?
A certificate of destruction for every data-bearing device, plus an asset record from collection. Together these give you an audit-ready file for POPIA accountability purposes.
What happens to a hard drive that cannot be wiped?
Failed, encrypted or locked drives are physically destroyed rather than overwritten. They are still listed on your certificate, so nothing is unaccounted for.
Do you collect outside Johannesburg?
Scheduled collection covers Johannesburg and surrounding Gauteng. For sites elsewhere, contact us with the location and volume and we will confirm what is possible before you commit.
Can individuals drop off electronics?
Yes. Individual drop-off is free at our Rosebank shop, no appointment needed. Full details are on our e-waste recycling and data destruction page.
